13dpo & spotting

So I just went to the bathroom and I’m spotting. Not a lot, like one drop on a panty liner, but still. And not red, more brown, but still. Someone please tell me this happened to them and everything still worked out okay.

  1. I’ve been spotting/bleeding the whole time. It’s super scary, but so far everything seems fine. My RE said that for some reason his IVF patients are more prone to bleeding. I’ll keep praying for you!

    1. Ivf here and I spotted for a weekend around the same time. I’m 37 weeks now, so all is ok. Let your RE know, they’ll probably tell you to take it easy and call if it gets worse.

  2. I’ve never had it but I’ve been told by two REs that it’s “quite common” to spot after IVF or medicated FET as a result of all of the hormones being fed to our body that engorge the cervix and uterus. I’m hoping all is well and you don’t panic too much more. It’s scary, I know.

  3. I spotted from about 12dpo and just recently it has gotten to be nearly nothing – at 9w5d.

  4. Echoing everyone else. Definitely spend the rest of the day as horizontal as possible πŸ™‚ But yet another IVFer here, and I had spotting too (still do) and I’m almost 11 weeks. Totally normal. DON’T DO ANY LAUNDRY TODAY! πŸ™‚

      1. Call your RE! Mine would not let me move from bed!

        1. They don’t even know I’m pregnant yet, as beta isn’t until Tuesday…

          1. Forgot about that. Totally up to you of course. I wouldn’t leave my bed if I were you but I’m also incredibly neurotic.

            1. You are not, just being safe! I don’t have any cramps. My clinic doesn’t give us any activity restrictions, even after the transfer, so I kind of doubt they would tell me to stay in bed, but what do I know. Ugh this sucks!

  5. I don’t want to freak you out but I started spotting like very little and it was brown and lost the baby. I hope you’re okay and baby is okay.

  6. It happened to me at the exact same point you’re at. My guess would be it’s the little bit of blood dislodged from the implantation site. As long as it’s not a lot of bright red and you don’t have cramping you should be golden.

    1. Thank you hun, this makes me feel better!

  7. I had brown spotting a few times in weeks 4-7! All the things are crossed for your beta!

  8. I had some spotting in week 6. My nurse said not to worry about it as long as it didn’t get worse and I wasn’t cramping. She also said it’s normal for IVF patients to have spotting.

  9. I have no personal experience with this but as a labor and delivery nurse we see a lot of patients coming in saying they are bleeding. That dot of brown blood should be fine without cramping. That means it’s old so it could’ve been implantation blood. Bright red is what you should keep your eyes peeled for along with pain. Also, if you’ve had intercourse within the last day or two could cause that also. πŸ™‚

  10. Yes, totally happened (3 times!) and all was fine. In fact, at 13/14 dpo I had what I would have thought was my period if I didn’t know I was pregnant! And yes, I totally freaked out, but everything was fine πŸ™‚

    1. This makes me feel better, thank you!

  11. haven’t had spotting yet, but agree with everybody above – call the RE to let them know you’re testing positive at home and have spotting. and yes, they’ll probably tell you to put your feet up for a while.

    1. I emailed my clinic and a nurse said they don’t get too concerned about brown spotting… That’s all she told me.

  12. i’ve had some bright red, dripping blood (tmi sorry) and everything is still okay. it’s super stressful and scary but i’m sure you’ll be okay! i have talked to a lot of women and they all said they spotted in their pregnancies.
