Weekly Pregnancy Update – 6 Weeks

I told myself I wasn’t going to do these updates…  But then I realized it might be fun to look back at these later, so these are probably more for me than for you 🙂

How far along: 6w1d

Baby’s size: ½ inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

Total weight gain: Up 2.6 lbs. as of yesterday, way too much for just entering my 7th week as far as I’m concerned. Not that I’m scared of gaining weight, I know it’s essential, just afraid of gaining too much and complicating the pregnancy. I have to assume most of my gain so far though is bloating from the stims and the progesterone injections. Thankfully only two more weeks of the PIO shots!

Maternity clothes: No, but if this bloat doesn’t cease to exist soon, I might be making some new purchases. I’ve tried the hair band trick, but I’ve gained in my hips and behind too, so I think I just need larger pants altogether.

Stretch marks: Oh gosh, no, thank God!

Sleep: I have not been sleeping well. I make it through work okay, but I’m pretty tired around 5pm when I get home. I’ve been napping from 5pm to whenever Eric gets home from work, sometimes 6pm, sometimes 8pm or later. You’d think that would help me stay awake a bit later once he’s home, but I’m pretty much out for the night once I’ve napped. I move to our bed around 9pm most nights after my progesterone shot and pray for sleep. And I do sleep some, but I tend to toss and turn, waking almost every hour. I’m not sure how much decent sleep I’m actually getting. I haven’t noticed the need to pee during the night lately, although I assume that will return at some point.

Symptoms/Feeling: I am moody as all get out! I mean really, everyone and everything annoys the crap outta me. And rude things keep flying out of my mouth, as if I have no control. I’ve still been feeling ‘off’ more often than not. I haven’t actually thrown-up, or even felt like I might, but this almost consent ‘off’ feeling is rather annoying. Eating small snacks seems to help, and I have some ginger lozenges that help as well, or it’s all in my head, but either way, I’ll be ordering more!

Best moment of this week: The first signs of this ‘off’ feeling, as it reassured me things are progressing!

Miss anything: Not really. I guess working out, or rather my shapely body. I’ve noticed I’ve already lost most of the toning from Kosama. I keep telling myself I’m going to dust off the treadmill in our lower level and walk each night, but so far that hasn’t happened with my naps.

Movement: Way too early!

Food cravings: Nothing specific, although carbs in general seem to be my go to. I’ve eaten a lot of Honeycrisp apples lately…

Anything making you queasy or sick: Eric warmed up something in the microwave a few nights ago and I had to walk away, but otherwise smells haven’t bothered me.

Have you started to show yet: Just this awful bloating so far.

Gender: Too early! But I think we can find out around 12 weeks with some other testing we’ll have done.

Labor signs: HAHA, let’s hope not yet!

Belly button in or out: In!

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Both!

Looking forward to: 7 week ultrasound is Monday. Terrified of a repeat from our last pregnancy, but more excited this time, more hopeful!

  1. i like that you’re keeping track. it’s for you (same reason I’m doing them) but fun for others to follow. we have the same cravings carbs and Apples 🙂

  2. These are fun. I would do them too if I were you. As for the pants situation just go buy some maternity pants already. You’ll be glad you did. I usually get out some maternity pants when I cycle because I get so bloated. Don’t waste time being uncomfortable. You’re pregnant! Now go get the pants.
