Weekly Pregnancy Update – 12 Weeks

How far along: 12w0d – OMG, we made it to 12 weeks!!!!

Baby’s size: 2.91 inches, 0.81 oz., about the size of a kiwi.

Total weight gain: Up a total of 1.7 lbs. from egg retrieval, so looks like I gained .6 lbs. last week.

Maternity clothes: The past week I’ve been back in my regular clothing, I think I’m finally losing most of the awful bloating from all the fertility meds!

Stretch marks: I pray never, and so far I’m still good!  They say these are hereditary, right?  So I’m either going to get them or I’m not?

Sleep: Still awful, I still toss and turn almost all night.  This has to end at some point, right?  Last night was especially bad, but perhaps because I napped during the day and then wasn’t quite as tired.

Symptoms/Feeling: I thought I was feeling better, but then I got in bed last night and was convinced I was going to throw up, I even asked Eric to get me the garbage can from the bathroom.  Thankfully the feeling passed.  Now here at work though, nothing sounds good for lunch again, although it could just be the crappy cafeteria food they serve here!

Best moment of this week: Seeing baby moving all around on our ultrasound, tiny arms and legs moving like wiggling around, very cute!

Miss anything: Exercising.  I’m hoping to have a bit of energy back soon, although with winter coming, exercise feels more limited.  I might have to dust off the treadmill in our basement.

Movement: Still too early, but maybe in a few more weeks!

Food cravings: Not really any cravings lately, just having a hard time finding anything that sounds good.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Thinking about what I ate after the meal is finished.  How strange is that?

Have you started to show yet: A few people at work have said they think I have a tiny bump, but honestly, I think it’s just still bloating.  Maybe by next week I’ll call it a baby bump!  I suppose I should start taking weekly pictures huh?  Maybe I’ll want to look back on those…  We’ll see.

Gender: Blood test last Thursday so hopefully we have the results by the end of this week!  Not sure how to reveal the gender yet.  Thinking maybe a special surprise for the parents…  I need to search pinterest for some ideas!

Labor signs: Good God no!

Belly button in or out: In.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: I guess some of both.  I’ve just felt overall kind of blah lately, not a lot of energy, and already feeling overwhelmed with everything I need to do to prepare for Christmas.

Looking forward to: Finding out the gender this week!

Purchases for baby:  BuyBuy Baby sent me another 20% off online coupon this morning, so I searched my registry for things I’ve already looked at, trying to pick something I’ll actually use.  I decided on the 4Moms Breeze Playard in grey.  I’m actually quite excited for it to arrive.  Anyone agree this was a useful purchase?  Anyone have one?

Eric’s reactions:  Eric’s test this past Saturday is now over, so hopefully he’s in a better mood this week!  Is it possible he is just stressed about baby arriving?

  1. So excited to find out what you’re having!

  2. Congrats on the 12 week mark! I can’t wait to hear what you are having 🙂 Have you thought of any names you like?

    1. I have several girl and boy names I like. I think Eric is going to be the problem… He doesn’t like anything I’ve suggested so far. I don’t want a totally out there name, but perhaps something a little different. Eric is stuck on normal names where there will be seven of that name in the kid’s classes!

  3. Ok I can’t wait to hear the gender, and your play yard is merely a pack n play, which may have been a better and cheaper option so you could use it for the newborn next to your bed.

    1. Of course it’s a pack and play! But I wanted one that wasn’t all fu-fu, something plain and grey, more neutral. I figure it will be handy for travel, or to contain the child when it’s older and I need to get something done around the house. I’m not 100% sure what we’re using for the baby to sleep in right away, considering I’m probably not setting up a bedroom for it in our current home…
