I might freak out soon

Still no call from the doctor with my MaterniT21 results.  When my blood was drawn on Thursday, November 13th I was told the test was taking about a week for results and that as soon as my doctor received the fax, I’d be called at the phone number of my choosing.  I’ve been staring at my cell phone for days now.  It was a week last Thursday.  It’s almost been two weeks now.

This morning around 10am I broke down and called my doctor.  The nurse I spoke with told me she would call the lab (an outside company performs the test) and call me right back.  That was three hours ago.  She’d also said others who had their blood drawn the same day as mine received results yesterday, so mine must be ready today.

I might freak out soon.  I’m of, course, assuming the worst.  I mean, if the results were fine, they’d just call and tell me, right?  If the results aren’t fine, they are probably looking for a doctor or genetic counselor to call me…  Which obviously takes longer.

Oh the waiting…

**** Update ****

I called the nurse back around 3:30pm. She promised results tomorrow…

  1. Don’t stress! You know how crazy busy doctor’s offices can get. I truly doubt the wait is because anything is wrong. It’s just that the results aren’t as important to them as they are to you. It’s not fair, but it’s true. Hang in there–I’m sure they’ll call back today!

  2. I’m sure everything is fine!! You’ve had great ultrasounds and there’s no family history on either side. But I can understand why you’d be anxious for the response. Heck, I’m anxious, but only because I want to know if it’s a boy or a girl!!

  3. it’s terrible how our minds instantly go to bad thoughts. i did the same with my IPS results phone call last week. hang in there. look on the bright side, you get to find out the sex of your baby WAAAAAY before most women do. just a couple of extra days of waiting rather than the standard weeks wait.
