Test Results

Just a bit ago Eric and I were told Nora has meningitis. I’m completely at a loss for what to think. They started her on meds…  I’m so worried though. I’m told the long term effects from meningitis can be devastating. Although to be honest, I have no clue what these effects could be.

One day at a time…

  1. I just recently started reading your blog via Nogoodeggs. I just wanted to send a ((hug)) … I’ve been through the whole scary NICU ordeal and it can be such a rollercoaster (but way more terrifying and not a whole lot of fun). Remember she’s in really good hands, try to avoid googling anything and just keep faith. It’s amazing how strong these tiny beings are.

      1. It’s my mantra in these situations. It just puts all the worst case scenarios in your head. The best thing you can do is bring your calm mama energy by her bedside. Sing some songs and tell her some stories. πŸ™‚

  2. Oh Stef, I am so sorry to hear this. Sending lots of hugs, prayers, and healing thoughts your way for Nora, Eric and you. Stay strong!

  3. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to Nora, mom and dad. Our Erik had meningitis so I understand your concern and he is fine. Remember children are resilient! She is in the best place possible receiving wonderful care. Remember mom and dad to take care of each other.

  4. she’s in the right place, and it sounds like they caught it early. she’ll remain on antibiotics for several weeks to clear it, and she’ll likely need another head ultrasound near the end of treatment. the effects can be really scary, but she’s getting treated properly, and will get early intervention and therapies after discharge to minimize any after-effects. BIG HUGS to you, i can’t imagine how scary it is to see your daughter go through this 😦

  5. I’m so sorry Nora Mae is going through all of this. I’m a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse and I’m so amazed by the resilience of children. They make grown ups look like wimps! I have faith and hope that Nora Mae will overcome this infection. Keeping Nora, mommy and daddy in my prayers.

  6. Sending you so much love, support and hugs – I can’t even contain myself. Know that the body is amazing and that she is a fighter. Hang in there… i’m sure it’s scary, but i’m sure she is getting the best care possible!! xoxo
