Nora – 15 months and the 4th of July

Forgive me, I can’t even remember if I posted 15 month pictures of Nora or not…  So here are a few that weren’t blurry, as she NEVER STOPS MOVING!

15.1 15.2 15.3

The older Nora gets, the more her personality cracks me up!  I assume all parents think this of their children…  Her newest thing is putting on lotion, well, pretend lotion most of the time.  She sees me apply it each morning, and I usually lather her up after her baths.  So funny that she picked up on that though.  She is seriously almost always happy, in fact, laughs all the time, mostly for reasons I can’t even figure out.  I think she has mastered our dog’s name, Kona, and every now and again I hear dog and ball too.

Eating is still a major stress point for me.  I emailed our local AEA office last week about evaluating her, but I haven’t heard back from them, a phone call may be needed I guess.  So much she spits out without even tasting it, even a chocolate chip cookie last night!  I’m just not sure how many meals in a row she can have either mac and cheese or chicken nuggets.  She’s growing, but probably only because we are still doing bottles of formula or pediasure.

Nora’s new favorite activity is climbing, on everything, the couch, benches, our coffee table…  She is slowly learning to turn around and slide off feet first.  So far no big falls on her head…

How is it July already???  The 4th came and went without much excitement in our family.  Eric was actually off, for once, but we’ve been out-of-town for so many day trips lately that I just wanted to stay home and relax.  We all went for a long walk last night though, which Nora loved.  We did not take Nora to see any fireworks, and last night I was wondering if that makes us bad parents, like she should have gotten that experience this year…  I guess I figured they would just scare her.  And they are way past her bedtime, and I know what horror happens when her bedtime is pushed back a few hours.  I did get her all dressed up for the day!  She looked so cute, even though the furthest we went was Olive Garden for lunch.  Is everyone as boring as us???  This weekend we have a tripped planned out of town for a friend’s anniversary party.  I’ll try to get a bunch of pictures of her.  And God help me, I pray she sleeps in the hotel…

  1. I cannot believe how much she has grown! She sounds so busy now. 🙂 We also did not take our little one to any fireworks – a missed bedtime sounds like my version of pain, and who needs to scare a little kid with loud noises? We did venture out to the daytime activities and it was so crazy we left as quickly as possible. Maybe in a few years we’ll try again.

    1. I know… I guess I’m glad we didn’t go, as yes, bedtime would have been so hard. I just want to make sure she doesn’t miss out on things though… Next year. Although next year we’ll have Nora’s little sister with us!

  2. It so cute to watch them learn all our everyday activities. Maeve runs in her lotion as well. She “puts on her clothes” and tried to put our on us as well haha. Great words! Maeve really doesn’t say much. I know it’s okay but I am just so excited for words! We didn’t take Maeve for fireworks either. It was just too late and we forgot her earmuffs anyway. Next year may be the year for us.

    1. Oh I know, I can’t wait for Nora is actually talk. But lord, what will she say??

  3. Haha my kids pretend to put contacts in their eyes like me and daddy! It’s adorable!

  4. I love your updates because I can relate so well. Isabel is 15 months, too. She’s still getting formula in bottles (before nap and bed) as I’m not confident she’d be getting her nutritional needs met via solid foods at this point! She’s been a challenging eater…loves throwing food more than eating it. Have you tried putting brocoli or pees in with the mac and cheese? I do that with Isabel and it works 🙂

    1. I have not tried to sneak in other items, but I’m going to try this! I have a feeling it won’t work with Nora, but worth a try. Tonight we had taco pizza, and she will eat the meat off the pizza, but one small piece of lettuce got into her mouth and she pulled it out! The little stinker!
